This month Tara speaks with Andrea and Angela from Roots Community Services a nonprofit organization that provides culturally-relevant programs and services to inspire residents from Black & Caribbean communities to make positive changes in their lives. 

Andrea and Angela’s team work tirelessly to break down systemic issues. They fight for equality and are the voice of the community. Roots Community Services offer programs that help women and families who need assistance whether it be surviving domestic violence, providing for those needing food and supplies, or their new program which offers mental health assistance during these difficult times we are embarking on.

Roots Community Services recently launched their confidential and non-judgemental support line which is open Monday through Friday between 9:00am and 7:00pm. They provide a listening ear to callers from the Black, African and Caribbean communities who need someone to listen and support them. They provide culturally-sensitive and relevant information to callers and they make referrals to professional and qualified counsellors where clinical intervention is requested or required.
